What it does

Objects, not paint
An arrow you drew an hour ago is still an arrow. It can be dragged, recolored, resized or deleted, because annotations are kept as a list of shapes rather than burnt into the pixels. They are only flattened when you export, and the original stays untouched underneath.
Good for a bug report
Paste a screenshot straight from the clipboard, drop three numbered pins on the things that are wrong, and export. Nothing was uploaded to a review service on the way, which matters when the screenshot has a customer's name in it.
No account needed
Every tool that runs on your own machine works logged out, with nothing to sign up for. Signing in adds sync across your devices and share links; Pro adds the passes that need a server. The no-upload page draws the line between the two, and Architecture shows it table by table.
